Following its triumph at last year’s World Golf Awards, the Faldo Course at the renowned Amendoeira Golf Resort has again been nominated for thetitle of ‘Portugal’s Best Golf Course’in the 2017 edition of the highly respected internationalawards.
Designed by six-time Major champion, and namesake, Sir Nick Faldo, the Faldo Course at Amendoeira has become a favourite among the Algarve’s international golf tourists. Having opened in 2008, and since hosted various notable tournaments to great acclaim, it is little surprise the championship course has been recognised again for its world-class offering.
Mr Christopher Howell, Chairman, Oceânico Group, said: “It was a huge honour to receive the coveted title of Portugal’s Best Golf Course in 2016. To be nominated again in 2017 is fantastic and a real testament to the foundations laid down by Sir Nick and the hard work our course management team put in daily to maintain the course’s award-winning conditions.
The World Golf Awardsare amongst the highest accolades golfing destinations can receive, so it is encouraging to know our continually rising standards have been recognised amongst the best in the Algarve for this award again in 2017. We look forward to the results later in the year.
Joining the Faldo Course on the nominees list is Amendoeira’s Christy O’Connor Jnr course. Also opened in 2008 and designed by late golfing legend Christy O’Connor Jnr, the championship course boasts various water features and a layout which demands accuracy from all golfers, delivering a true test to rival the very best Portugal has to offer.
Away from the golf course, Amendoeira’s beauty and excellence continues; with its luxury onsite accommodation, the resort has been nominated for the accolade of ‘Portugal’s Best Golf Hotel’ in the prestigious World Golf Awards as well.
The outstanding resort, set within an area of natural beauty, just 25 minutes from Faro Airport in the ever-popular Algarve region, presents a comprehensive leisure and accommodation offer which includes luxurious on-site villas and apartments complete with outdoor swimming pools, the Amendoeira Sports Club, Par 3 Academy Course and its impressive clubhouse with a premium hospitality service.
The excellence of the resort’s amenities will come into full view later this year when Amendoeira plays host to the ninth edition of the renowned Oceânico World Kids Golf Championship from 24 – 28 July, as it strengthens its commitment to inspire young golfers from around the globe.
