Water is an essential resource. At Amendoeira Golf Resort, we are committed to water efficiency through the use of treated wastewater, optimised irrigation systems and solutions that reduce consumption, promoting increasingly sustainable management of this resource.

We invest in energy efficiency solutions and sustainable mobility, with electric vehicles, smart energy management systems and charging infrastructure. We also invest in self-consumption through solar energy, reducing consumption and our carbon footprint.

We promote responsible waste management through selective collection, recycling and the recovery of green and organic waste. We also reduce the use of single-use items, favouring reusable and sustainable alternatives, contributing to a more circular economy and helping to prevent approximately 1,700 kg of plastic waste per year.

We protect and enhance local biodiversity through environmental studies, the installation of 52 nesting boxes and sustainable green space management practices. We also invest in biological control and the reuse of pruning waste for composting and natural fertilisation.

We work with a local shepherd and his flock to naturally maintain green areas, reducing the use of machinery, fuel and pesticides. This practice contributes to fire prevention, soil fertilisation and the preservation of an Algarve tradition, while also providing an authentic experience for our guests.

We monitor and promote air quality through preventive and control measures, contributing to healthier environments and the well-being of our guests, employees and the community.

We make the most of the resort’s resources through the production of olive oil, soaps and, in the future, candles made from our olive trees, promoting the circular economy and strengthening the connection between sustainability, tradition and local identity.

Amendoeira Golf Resort’s environmental commitment is recognised through international certifications and initiatives such as Green Key, Save Water, the “Sustainability Committed” seal and ESG reports. The resort is also in the process of obtaining GEO certification, reinforcing its commitment to sustainable and responsible practices aligned with the highest environmental standards.

We continuously invest in raising environmental awareness amongst our staff, guests and partners, fostering a culture of ecological sustainability. Through communication, training and community engagement initiatives, we encourage more conscious and responsible behaviour, contributing to a lasting positive impact in the region where we operate.

We also seek to actively support and involve the local community in projects relating to sustainability, social responsibility and cultural appreciation.
